Data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence will irrevocably impact the lifecycle of insurance and we all need to get to grips with the fundamentals of these technologies.

In a drive to ensure everyone in the Lloyd’s marketplace can understand and use these concepts and tools we are delighted to be partnering with the Southampton Data Science Academy (at the University of Southampton) to offer data science and artificial intelligence training courses across a two year programme delivered in five learning cohorts - starting May 2020.

Fundamentals of Data Science (for everyone)
Audience: No coding is required but you should be comfortable using Excel.
Cohort 1 - 18th May 2020
Cohort 2 - 14th September 2020
(£1400 including VAT / 8 weeks / est 7 hrs per week / 3 assignments)
On this 8-week course, you’ll get the theoretical knowledge, practical and technical skills you need to work more effectively with data.
You’ll learn how to explain the key concepts in data science and its real-world application, as well as classify the different types of data available and usage rights.

Fundamentals of Data Science (for technical staff - you should be proficient in a programming language and have basic experience with statistics)
Audience: Coding experience is essential. Some experience with Python or with a similar language is highly recommended. If you want to check your level of experience with our team, please contact info@southamptondata.science.
Cohort 1 - 18th May 2020
Cohort 2 - 14th September 2020
(£1400 including VAT / 8 weeks / est 10 hrs per week / 3 assignments)
On this 8-week online course, you’ll get the specialist knowledge and technical skills you need to effectively apply the powerful tools and insights of data science to your work.
You’ll examine real-life business case studies and extend your knowledge and expertise across data mining, machine-learning, and data visualisation.

AI and Machine Learning for Business
Cohort 2 - 14th September 2020
(£1400 including VAT / 8 weeks / est 10 hrs per week / 4 assignments)
This 8-week online course will demystify some of the technical terms you are likely hear around AI and Machine Learning in your day-to-day business.
You will explore a range of AI and Machine Learning capabilities, in the context of real-life business case studies.
